MANDATE MEDIAdigital strategy for people changing the world

Never, ever, ever send emails to these domain names

Recently, more and more consumers have reported receiving spam on their cell phones, PDA's, and pagers. Given that many folks are still payin high costs for text messages to those devices - and struggling to manage even limited number of messages (due to their limited screen interfaces and memory capacities) - those consumers are rightfully furious.

Unlike spammers, you're a responsible email broadcaster. So, how do you make sure that you don't accidentally email a supporter's cell phone, PDA, or pager?

The Federal Communications Commission has developed a list of domain names that serve wireless devices. Currently, there are 188 domains on the list. Make sure you never send to those addresses. Not only will you annoy your supporters - but you may be breaking federal law.

This is a list of Domain Names to which marketers may not send unsolicited e-mail because the messages go to wireless devices, including cell phones and pagers. These names were provided by wireless providers to protect their customers.

A self-promotional moment: Our MandateMail service - developed in partnership with top-shelf email broadcasting company Exact Target - ensures that you don't mail to these wireless domains. With MandateMail, you can cross off this to-do item: even if you try to add a wireless device to your subscriber list, it won't work.
