Who we are:
Mandate Media is a progressive political consulting firm specializing in digital strategy and services. We help progressive political candidates and advocacy groups integrate their strategy with technology. We design and build websites. We provide interactive campaign tools. We help our clients build big email lists, engage those audiences in activism, and raise lots of money. We help our clients with their social media strategies and deploy digital advertising. Our clients are changing the world and leading the resistance to Donald Trump – and we help them win.
What's the job?
This is a full-time job in a fast-growing, well-respected firm. We’ve worked for nearly 300 clients in 31 states, and you’ll help us grow. Every day will be different, and you'll be using your skills to help change the world. We're a small shop, and you'll report directly to our president.
You will work as a political consultant and digital strategist in partnership with the rest of our team.
In this role, you will be expected to be fluent in communications and campaign tactics and how our work integrates with the rest of a campaign's or nonprofit's overall strategy. You will maintain an interest in and knowledge of the strategic landscape of our clients' efforts, identifying political risks and opportunities, and proactively offering online solutions to our clients’ challenges.
You will spend most of your time developing creative and strategic concepts to engage our clients’ audiences – especially via email broadcasting. You will write – a lot. You will be responsible for a portfolio of our client work, writing compelling emails, developing list-building concepts, and advising on and producing social media.
Excellent political and strategic instincts, creative and persuasive writing skills, and sharp analytical capability. Before long, you’ll be managing your own portfolio of clients, so confidence and ability to communicate are key. Tasks will come fast and furious, so adaptability and time-management skills are critical. Web development skills are not required, but you’ll need to be comfortable expanding your tech skills along the way.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is smart, fast, flexible, creative, and happy. We're looking for self-starters who want to expand their skills, take on tough challenges, and make this job their own. You’ll be helping lead the resistance to Trump, so a passion for progressive politics – and a tough “keep fighting” mindset is critical. This job is located in Portland, Oregon, though we’re open to discussing alternatives.
Commensurate with experience. Generous health insurance benefits, including dental, vision, and alternative care. Generous paid-time-off package and 401K plan.
